Greg Harjula will begin his first year as head coach of the Lasell College Baseball program, after a three year stint as assistant coach of the Lasers. Coach Harjula has been with the Lasers Baseball program for all four seasons since the inception of the program, in 2008.
Josh Sullivan (Rockland, MA) and Conor Cavanagh (Quincy, MA) were honored by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) with baseball All-Conference accolades for the 2010 season.
Boston, MA-- The Lasell College baseball team suffered a heartbreaking loss in the first round of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament, 11-10, to Emerson College on Tuesday night at Maplewood Field. The Lasers entered the tournament as the fifth seed, facing the third seeded Lions, in the contest which ultimately ended the season for the second year Lasell program. Lasell finished the year witha 6-26 overall record.
Cobleskill, NY-- The Lasell College baseball team split a pair of games with SUNY Cobleskill on Sunday afternoon at Fighting Tiger Field. The Lasers fell 13-7 in game one before taking game two 15-5.
Waltham, Mass. Framingham State College rolled to a 16-7 win over the Lasell College baseball team on Friday afternoon at Stein Diamond. The visiting Rams launched three home runs en route to their third straight victory, with Rob McLaughlin (Plymouth, Mass.) picking up the win on the mound.
Henniker, NHThe Lasell College baseball team got a strong all-around performance from starting pitcher Josh Sullivan (Rockland, MA) on Thursday, but the Lasers could not hang on to pick up the victory as New England College triumphed, 11-7, after a seven-run third inning. Sullivan struck out four Pilgrims in five innings of work, while also topping the offense with a 2-for-3 day at the plate, including a double, three runs, and two RBI.
Waltham, MA-- The Massachusetts Maritime Buccaneers used just five hits to compose a 3-0 shutout of the Lasell College baseball team on Wednesday afternoon at Brandeis University's Stein Diamond. Despite a valiant effort by sophomore pitcher Matt Mahoney (Rockland, MA) striking out five Buccaneers while permitting just four hits in eight innings, the Lasers offense was shut down by Maritime.
Nashua, NH- Mike Mahoney (Rockland, MA) picked up Lasells fifth conference win in seven innings of work on Tuesday night with a 6-4 triumph over Rivier College in the first game of a Great Northeast Athletic Conference doubleheader. The Lasers fell in game two, 6-3, bringing their season slate to 5-21, and their conference mark to 5-9.
WALTHAM, MA- A non-conference showdown between Bates College and the hosting Lasell College Lasers resulted in the Bobcats dominating, 16-2, through eight innings of regional baseball action, on a cold Monday night at Brandeis University.
East Providence, R.I. Lasell College split a pair of Great Northeast Athletic Conference games on Sunday with Johnson & Wales University. The Lasers won the first game 7-3 with sophomore hurler Josh Sullivan (Rockland, MA) on the mound, and then dropped game two of the twin bill, 5-2.
Worcester, Mass.- Becker College got four hits and five RBIs from Weston Meehan (Thomson, GA.) as the Hawks defeated Lasell College 7-3 in baseball action Thursday evening.
Newton, MA- Joshua Sullivan (Rockland, MA) was selected as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week after throwing a two-hitter in Lasell's first ever win over St. Joseph's College of Maine on Saturday.
Waltham, MA-- Suffolk University derailed the Lasell College baseball team in back-to-back Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) games on Sunday afternoon, taking the first contest 13-4 and coming from behind to steal a 12-8 victory in the second. Lasell carried a 6-3 lead through the sixth inning before the Rams used a nine-run seventh to abscond the win in game two.
Waltham, MASophomore right hander Josh Sullivan (Rockland, MA) pitched a two-hitter as the Lasell College baseball team defeated preseason favorites St. Josephs College of Maine, 6-2, in the first game of a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. Sullivan delivered a perfect game through five and a third innings, striking out six, en route to the Lasers' first-ever victory over the Monks.
Waltham, MA A six-run fourth inning led the University of Massachusetts, Boston past the Lasell Lasers baseball team, 9-3, on Thursday night at Yetten Field. The game was tied at one-all through the fourth, at which point the Beacons broke through for their 10th season victory.
WENHAM, MA Gordon College came away with a 16-4 decision over Lasell baseball on Wednesday afternoon at JTec White Field. Lasell had a 3-2 lead through the top of the third inning before the Fighting Scots came back to tie and eventually take the lead in the fourth. A six run fifth inning secured the non-conference battle in favor of the hosts who currently hold an 8-12 record. The Lasers drop to a 2-13 mark midway through the season.
