Gordon Picks Up 16-4 Decision Over Lasers
WENHAM, MA Gordon College came away with a 16-4 decision over Lasell baseball on Wednesday afternoon at JTec White Field. Lasell had a 3-2 lead through the top of the third inning before the Fighting Scots came back to tie and eventually take the lead in the fourth. A six run fifth inning secured the non-conference battle in favor of the hosts who currently hold an 8-12 record. The Lasers drop to a 2-13 mark midway through the season.

Lasell had a 3-2 lead through the top of the third inning before the Fighting Scots came back to tie and eventually take the lead in the fourth. A six run fifth inning secured the non-conference battle in favor of the hosts who currently hold an 8-12 record. The Lasers drop to a 2-13 mark midway through the season.
Josh Sullivan (Rockland, MA) produced a hit and a run, while Jim Amon (Warren, NJ) scored a second Laser run in the first inning, when Junior Viega (Randolph, MA) launched a two-RBI double. Gordon answered with an unearned run, scored by Andrew Zgrablich on a passed ball.
Rookie short stop Bobby Stachura (Middletown, CT) knocked an RBI-single to score Patrick Girard (Stonington, CT) giving Lasell a 3-1 advantage after the top of the second. The Fighting Scots answered with one run in the latter half of the frame, when Geoff Brown earned a two-base hit, plating Ben Davidson.
Lasell did not score in the third or fourth, leaving room for Gordon to take the lead in the ballgame. The Scots used two hits to bring home Stephen Kefalas and even the score at three-all in the third, and then pulled ahead, 4-3, in the fourth with an unearned run by Zgrablich.
The Scots did most of their damage in the fifth inning, scoring six runs on three hits and one error. Kefalas started the rally with a homerun to lead off the inning. Starting pitcher Mike Rodriguez (Brockton, MA) was relieved in the fifth, after striking out three and giving up six runs, three of which were earned. The Scots then scored five additional runs in the inning to take a decided advantage over the visitors. Five supplementary runs were tallied by the home team in the sixth and one bonus run was scored in the seventh.
Herb Chappell (Salem, CT) scored the Lasers concluding run in the eighth, with Stachura earning his second RBI of the day on the play.
Stachura produced two hits for the Lasers, as did center fielder Sean Ruderman (Pittsfield, MA). Ruderman also made four outs on defense.
The Lasers next contest is against the University of Massachusetts, Boston on Thursday, April 8th. The regional non-league matchup will be played at Yetten Field in Waltham, Massachusetts at 7:00 p.m.
