Baseball Splits a Pair of Non-Conference Games with SUNY Cobleskill
Cobleskill, NY-- The Lasell College baseball team split a pair of games with SUNY Cobleskill on Sunday afternoon at Fighting Tiger Field. The Lasers fell 13-7 in game one before taking game two 15-5.

Lasell was in arrears throughout the first contest, lagging behind 2-1 in the first inning. The Lasers were able to even the score just once, at two-all, in the top of the third, only to fall back 5-2 after a three-run bottom of the third by SUNY. Lasell faced a 13-4 deficit in the seventh before completing the scoring with three final runs.
Game one was highlighted by a 3-for-4 performance at the plate by
Herb Chappell (Salem, CT). Chappell slugged two doubles and
added an RBI in the contest. A half dozen other Lasers
contributed with a hit each. Junior Veiga (Randolph, MA)
produced three RBI in the contest along with one hit and Bobby
Stachura (Middletown, CT) knocked a triple and came around the bags
twice. Matt Mahoney (Rockland, MA) and Carlton Lentini
(Wilmington, MA) had a hit and two runs apiece.
Conor Cavanagh (Quincy, MA) had a hit and a run in the contest and Sean Ruderman (Pittsfield, MA) chipped in with one hit and one RBI.
Mike Rodriguez (Brockton, MA) picked up his first collegiate win in game two, pitching six innings, striking out four batters, while allowing only four earned runs on nine hits.
Lasell got on top early in the second contest, taking a 10-2 lead by the third frame. A five-run sixth inning sealed their fate, and the Lasers ended the weekend with their sixth season victory.
Josh Sullivan (Rockland, MA) unloaded three hits in four chances for the Lasers, which included two extra-base hits, and produced three runs and two RBI. Stachura, Lentini, and Ricky Igbani (Randolph, MA) had two hits each and combined for six runs and three RBI. Mike Mahoney (Rockland, MA) also scored three runs and added a hit for the Lasers.
The Lasers (6-25, 5-9 GNAC) will begin post-season competition on Tuesday, April 27th when they play in the first round of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Tournament. The fifth seeded Lasers will face off with fourth seeded Emerson College at 7:00 p.m. at Maplewood Field.
