BOSTON, MA The Lasell College mens basketball teams 2009-2010 season ended in the semifinals of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Tournament on Thursday evening, in a 72-47 loss to second seeded Emerson College at the Brown & Plofker Gym. The Lasers finish the year with an 11-16 overall record, and the Lions, who hold a 20-7 record, will advance to the finals of the GNAC Tournament against top seeded Albertus Mangus on Saturday, February 27th.
Sixth ranked Lasell College is coming off a 75-70 upset victory over no. 3 seeded St. Josephs College of Maine as they head into the Great Northeast Athletic Conference semifinals against no. 2 Emerson College on Thursday, February 25th. The Lasers are 11-15 this season, having finished in the GNAC with an 8-10 regular season slate. Emerson is 19-7 overall, after a 63-45 defeat of seventh seeded Norwich University in the quarter finals, and finished the regular season with a 15-3 conference record.

Lasell freshman guard Justin Harris (New Orleans, LA) paced the Lasers with 21 points, adding seven rebounds, and six assists in the upset victory.

NEWTON, MA- The Lasell College mens and womens basketball teams, in conjunction with the Student Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC), raised $400.00 in an effort to support two community causes during the month of February. The Lasers first hosted two basketball contests to raise money and awareness in support of Haiti after two earthquakes hit and devastated the island country. The second fundraising effort was in support of the WBCA Pink Zone global initiative to raise money for breast cancer awareness.

Boston, MA- Despite a 28 point, 12 rebound performance by Lasells sophomore forward Javon Williams (Mattapan, MA) the Lasers mens basketball team was defeated by Emmanuel College, 87-79, in overtime on Saturday afternoon. The extra frame was needed after a regulation game where the lead alternated eight times and deadlocked seven times, ultimately ending in a Saints eight point triumph.
