Lasers Drop Game to Suffolk in OT 84-74.
Boston, MA--Javon Williams (Mattapan, MA) scored 20 points, but Lasell fell on the road to Suffolk in OT.
Boston, MA--The Lasers held a 10 point lead with under four minutes remaining in regualation, but Suffolk battled back and junior Mike Fleming (Exeter, NH) hit a three-point shot with :25 seconds remaining to force overtime in Boston on Saturday afternoon.
The Lasers trailed by six at the half but came back strong after the break. Late in the second half, Lasell went on an 18-2 run to take a 10 point lead. The Lasers held a 63-53 advantage with 4:38 remaining in the game after sophomore Dominik Orlow (Slupsk, Poland) hit a jumper. With less than three minutes remaining though, the Rams mounted a 13-3 run including the game tying three pointer by Fleming. The Rams then outscored the Lasers 18-8 in OT leading to a final score of 84-74 in favor of the hosts.
Sophomore Javon Williams (Mattapan, MA) scored 11 of his game-high 20 points in the second half. Williams finished the game with a double-double as he also had 13 rebounds in the loss.
Freshman Lance Theard (New Orleans, LA) and
senior Charles Horton (Detroit, MI) each scored 17
for the Lasers. Both Theard and
Horton were able to stretch the Lasers’
offense as each player connected on three shots from
beyond the arc.
The Lasers fall to 3-6 overall and 1-2 in conference play. The
men will be in action again on Tuesday night when they host GNAC
opponent Johnson & Wales University at 6:00 p.m.
