Newton, MA- The third-seeded Lasell men's lacrosse team saw its 2026 season come to a heartbreaking end on Saturday afternoon, falling 7-6 in overtime to sixth-seeded Saint Joseph's (Maine) in the GNAC Quarterfinals at Grellier Field.
After a tightly contested opening quarter that ended in a 1-1 draw, Saint Joseph's (Maine) used a two-goal second quarter to take a 3-1 lead into halftime, limiting the Lasers' offensive rhythm despite 25 first-half shots.
Lasell began to chip away in the third, as Julian Vogel scored off an assist from Jason Martin to cut the deficit to one. The Monks answered late in the frame to extend their lead to 4-2 heading into the final quarter.
The Lasers came alive in the fourth. Vogel netted two goals early in the period, and Carson Tucker added another to give Lasell its first lead of the day at 5-4. Saint Joseph's responded with back-to-back goals to regain a 6-5 advantage, but with just two seconds remaining, Martin buried the equalizer off a feed from Colin LeBaron to force overtime.
In the extra period, Saint Joseph's capitalized on a man-up opportunity, scoring just 19 seconds in to secure the 7-6 victory.
Vogel led the Lasers with a hat trick, while Martin added a goal and an assist. Tucker and Nate Campbell also found the back of the net, and LeBaron dished out two assists.
Lasell held advantages in shots (45-31), ground balls (33-24), and faceoffs, with Matthew Carbone going 12-for-17 at the X. In goal, Dominick Ciarelli made 10 saves.
