WVB: Lasers Sweep Mitchell 3-0
New London, CT- The Lasers are continuing their way through conference-play, posting a decisive 3-0 sweep over Mitchell College this Saturday. The Lasers took the match by scores of 25-10, 25-20, and 25-22 to improve to 11-1 overall and 2-0 in GNAC play. Mitchell falls to 6-5 on the season and 1-3 in conference action.
Lasell came out strong in the first set, hitting an impressive .588 while holding the Mariners to a -.238 percentage. The Lasers' offensive proved too much for the hosts, as Lasell built early leads and never looked back. The momentum carried through the remaining sets as Lasell maintained control with consistent attacking and effective serving.
Trinity Silva led the way with a perfect performance, tallying 7 kills on 7 swings for a 1.000 hitting percentage while adding 3 service aces for a match-high 10.5 points. Estella Feenstra contributed 8 kills and hit .300, while Michelle French added 5 kills on a .571 clip. Morgan Bogli chipped in with 3 kills on 5 swings, helping keep the pressure on Mitchell throughout.
Sydney Katz played a key role in setting up the offense, dishing out 29 assists while also recording 4 service aces. Her distribution and pace helped Lasell finish the match with a .304 team hitting percentage. The Lasers also dominated from the service line, collecting 15 aces as a team, while limiting their own service errors.
Defensively, Lasell remained sharp, holding Mitchell to a .053 hitting percentage across all three sets. The Lasers finished with 32 digs and 6 block assists, with key contributions from Madeline Caro, and Katz in the back row.
