WLax: Lasers Win Home Opener
Newton, MA - The Lasell Lasers moved to 2-0 in conference play on Wednesday, as they defeated the Anna Maria AMCATS by a final score of 13-3. The Lasers are now 2-2 overall, while the AMCATS are 1-3.
The Lasers opened the scoring just a minute into the game when Teresa Kessner scored. Just 15 seconds later, Alyson Barnes scored for Lasell to make it 2-0 just 90 seconds into the game. After Anna Maria cut the lead in half, Emily Chapdelaine scored off of a pass from Kessner. After seven minutes with no goals, the Lasers extended their lead when Kaitlin Bedell scored off of a free position shot, giving the Lasers a 4-0 lead after the first quarter. Chapdelaine scored the only goal of the second when she scored midway through the period. The Lasers led 5-1 at halftime.
After the AMCATS scored to of the first three goals of the second half, with a Kessner goal assisted by Chapdelaine sandwiched in between, the Lasers went on to score three straight goals to close out the quarter. Chapdelaine scored twice from free position shots within a minute of each other, and Kessner closed the quarter out with another goal of her own. The fourth quarter was all Lasers as Lasell outscored Anna Maria 4-0. Chapdelaine and Kessner each added one goal, and Bedell added two, giving the Lasers the 13-3 win.
The Lasers were led on offense by Emily Chapdelaine, as she found the back ogf the net five times, Teresa Kessner was behind her with four goals, and Kaitlin Bedell also had a hat trick with three goals. Chapdelaine and Kessner also led the team in ground balls with 11 and 8 respectively. Bedell led the game with four draw controls, while Caroline O'Leary led the game with four caused turnovers.
Up Next - The Lasers will look to continue their strong conference play when they travel to Simmons on Saturday, March 18th. That game will start at 1pm.
