DUDLEY, Mass. – Senior Jordan McComb (Cumberland, R.I.). and junior Amanda DiLeonardo (West Haven, Conn.) scored seven goals apiece Thursday afternoon to lead Lasell College to a 20-12 victory over Nichols College in non-conference women's lacrosse action at Vendetti Field.
McComb also scored her 100th career goal, becoming the ninth player in program history to reach the milestone. DiLeonardo added a pair of assists to her career-high seven goals for a career-best nine-point game, while also collecting a game-high six draw controls. McComb and freshman Erin Kriger (Burlington, Mass.) also grabbed five draw controls each.
Senior Vanessa Pino (Methuen, Mass.) also scored one goal and dished out five assists for the Lasers. Sophomore Kellie Matthews (Walpole, Mass.) chipped in with two goals and one assist as Lasell improves to 3-1 on the season.
Senior Kirsten Sullivan and junior Danielle Kozloski each scored three times for the Bison (2-1), who also received two goals from junior Miranda Smith. Kozloski notched a team-high five ground balls.
Lasell scored the first six goals of the game, including three by McComb and two by Leonardo. Nichols scored three of the next four to pull to within 7-3 by the midway point of the half, but the Lasers answered with four in a row, including two by DiLeonardo, en route to an 11-4 halftime lead.
The Lasers had a four-goal burst early in the second half to extend the margin to double digits (16-6) and the teams traded goals two at a time the rest of the game.
Junior Morgan Choquet (Woonsocket, R.I.) earned the win in goal (3-1) for Lasell. Senior Emily Eagan got her first start of the season in the crease for Nichols and stopped five shots.
Lasell opens Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action this Saturday, March 16, at GNAC newcomer Colby-Sawyer College (1 p.m.). Nichols plays again Sunday, March 17 vs Birmingham-Southern (Macon, Ga.) at 3 p.m.
