Norton, MA- The Lasell men's lacrosse team dropped a 16–5 decision to host Wheaton College on Tuesday afternoon at Nordin Field. The setback moves Lasell to 0-2 on the young season, while Wheaton improved to 2-0.
Wheaton opened the contest with six unanswered goals in the first quarter and carried a 7–1 lead into halftime. Lasell got on the board midway through the second period when Nick Halesworth found the back of the net on an unassisted tally at 8:38, cutting the deficit to 7–1.
Lasell showed flashes of offensive momentum in the second half, scoring four times over the final two quarters. Jason Martin recorded a man-up goal early in the third quarter, followed by an unassisted finish from Nate Campbell to make it 10–3. In the fourth, Carson Tucker scored off an assist from Sam Guilmette, and Colin LeBaron capped the Lasell scoring with a late goal assisted by Blake Cavallon.
Campbell led Lasell with a team-high seven shots and four shots on goal, while LeBaron added three shots on goal and two caused turnovers. Martin contributed five shots and a goal, and Halesworth posted a goal with two ground balls. Guilmette and Cavallon each recorded an assist.
In goal, Cameron Soave made 13 saves across 60 minutes of action.
Up Next: Lasell will return to action later this week for its home opener against Emerson College.
