Six Straight Wins for Lasell Baseball after 12-3 Defeat of Lesley
SOMERVILLE, MA – Lasell College baseball expanded upon a six game winning streak today with a 12-3 defeat of Lesley University in non-conference action. Lasell starter Matt Mahoney (Rockland, MA) picked up the win in seven innings with just five-hits relinquished and one earned run, while striking out nine Lynx to bring the Lasers overall record to 16-10.

Lasell starter Matt Mahoney (Rockland, MA) picked up the win in seven innings with just five-hits relinquished and one earned run, while striking out nine Lynx to bring the Lasers overall record to 16-10.
Lasell went up 4-0 after two innings, starting with an RBI fielder's choice by Chris Williams (Hingham, MA) which plated Carlton Lentini (Wilmington, MA) followed by an RBI single by Bobby Stachura (Middletown, CT) which scored Mike Mahoney (Rockland, MA). Two additional runs were scored on a throwing error by the Lynx.
Three more runs came in the third with RBI doubles by both Christopher Pittman (Brockton, MA) and Mike Mahoney, and another fielder's choice by Williams.
Lesley picked up two unearned runs in the fourth on Jeff Gonzalez's (Watertown, MA) single which brought home Ryan Genua (Prospect, CT) who had reached on an error and stole second. Pittman sent his pickoff throw from behind the plate that was intended for first up the right field line, allowing Aqib Shah (Watertown, MA) to score from second.
Lesley's Cory Ducharme (Keene, NH) produced a base-hit to the opposite-field in left to lead off the fifth inning. Ducharme advanced to third on a Greg Anglin (Milton, MA) single and scored on a Genua RBI ground out, brining the score to 7-3.
A bases-loaded, no-out sac fly from Mike Mahoney closed the book on Nick Dolan's (Statford, NH) first start at 13 hits, eight runs and a strikeout in his 5.1 innings. Joseph Marcinko (Cranston, RI) came out of the pen to work out of the two-on, one-out, sixth-inning jam.
A Pittman run-scoring fielder's choice and a Lentini infield single added two more runs to the board for Lasell in the seventh. Mike Mahoney's second double of the game brought his RBI total to three for the game and a Junior Viega (Randolph, MA) sacrifice fly rounded out scoring for the game.
The Lasers completed 19 hits in the game with Mike Mahoney going 4-for-5 with three RBI and one run and Lentini going 4-for-5 with three runs and one RBI. Uberti and Pittman added three hits each as well as three runs and an RBI apiece and a handful of Lasers had one knock each.
Justin Reis (Roslyn, NY) pitched one inning of relief for Lasell, making two strikeouts, allowing no hits and walking one batter. Michael Gunning (Randolph, MA) closed the game with an inning pitched, yielding one hit.
On Wednesday, Lasell will return to their home field at Brandeis University to face non-conference opponent Becker College at 7:00 p.m. on Stein Diamond.
