2011 Women's Cross Country Preview
The Lasell College women’s cross country team is looking forward to embarking on a successful 2011 season. Led by senior captain, and 2010 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) All-Conference honoree, Meghan Missett (Lowell, MA), along with five other veteran runners, the Lasers look to be competitive across the conference and the region.
The Lasell College women's cross country team is looking forward to embarking on a successful 2011 season. Led by senior captain, and 2010 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) All-Conference honoree, Meghan Missett (Lowell, MA), along with five other veteran runners, the Lasers look to be competitive across the conference and the region.
Missett led the women's team in each race of the 2010 season, en route to her 8th place finish at the GNAC Championship. Missett concluded the 5k course in 21:38.58, just three seconds behind her previous time on the course, and less than a minute behind the individual winner on the course. She also produced a 5th place finish at Elms and a 6th place finish at the 2010 President's Cup. She highlighted the year with her first GNAC award as well as a personal career best performance of 20:45 at the Pop Crowell Invitational hosted by Gordon College.
Amanda Driscoll (Roslindale, MA) will also be competing in her final season with the Lasers in 2011. The senior runner also recorded her career best at the Pop Crowell Invitational, cutting 14 seconds off her previous time and finishing the course in 22 minutes and 37 seconds.
Juniors Christina Annicelli (North Easton, MA) and Stephanie Greenblatt (Houston, TX), along with sophomore's Solange Carpenter (Gorham, ME) and Alaina Eldredge (Sandford, ME), will also return to the roster this season. Annicelli ran a season best time of 22:49 last year while Carpenter had a breakout season as a freshman, recording a personal best of 22:25.
Newcomers to the Lasers squad include sophomores Kelly Pigott (Upton, MA) and Jess Smith (Townsend, MA) as well as first years Samantha Mackie (Dorchester, MA) and Amy Santella (Cheshire, MA).
The Lasers 2011 season will commence on Saturday, September 3rd at the Keene State Invitational.
