Missett Finishes 6th at Runnin' Monks Invitational

 Standish, ME-- The University of Maine at Farmington claimed the Runnin' Monks Invitational women's team title for the fourth consecutive year in the annual meet hosted by St. Joseph's College of Maine on Saturday. The Lasell College women's cross country team finished in sixth place as a team, with junior Meghan Missett (Lowell, MA) finishing in sixth place individually on the 5K course.

Farmington claimed the title with 41 total points as a squad, taking second and third place individual finishers with Caitlin Miller (Pepperell, MA) and Salena Sykes (Island Pond, VT) ending in times of 21:13 ad 21:19.  The top individual performance was won by Husson University's Angela Stauble (Amherst, NH) with a 20:36 top effort in the meet. 

St. Joseph's edged out Johnson & Wales for second place as a team in a tiebreaker, although both teams concluded with 70 points. 

For Lasell, Missett clocked a time of 21:35.47 on St. Joseph's course, finishing behind only two other GNAC runners.  Johnson & Wales' Laura Furfaro and St. Joseph's Danielle Cusack (Portland, ME) earned times of 21:28 and 21:32, good for fourth and fifth overall.  

Amanda Driscoll (Roslindale, MA) finished in 21st in a 23:26.72 performance and Christina Annicelli (North Easton, MA) came in 22 seconds later, at 23:48.17, in 26th place overall.  Solange Carpenter (Gorham, ME) also had a top 30 showing, coming in 28th at the Runnin' Monks Invitational in 24 minutes.

Alexandra Smith (North Easton, MA) and Alaina Eldredge (Sandford, ME) rounded out the top six performers for Lasell.  Smith ran a time of 25:45.20 and Eldredge ended at 30:36.88.

The Lasell College cross country team will compete next at the Saints Invitational at Franklin Park on Saturday, October 15th.
