Lasers Miss 1st Victory by Narrowest of Margins
Cambridge, Mass.- The Lasers womens cross country team opened up the 2009 season with at the Presidents Cup 2009 Dual Meet between Lesley University and Lasell College. The Lynx were ranked first in the conference preseason poll by the NECC (The New England Collegiate Conference), receiving all eight first place votes, proving to be tough competition. However, the Lynx beat the Lasers by just a narrow one point margin of 27-28, on Saturday afternoon on the 2.5 mile course.

The Lynx, who were ranked first in the NECC conference preseason poll, proved to be tough competition. However, the Lynx beat the Lasers by a narrow margin of just one point, 27-28, on Saturday afternoon on the 2.5 mile course.
Megan Missett (Lowell, Mass.) was the first Lasers to finish, and second athlete overall to complete the course. Missett ran a 16:58 to earn the top spot for Lasell, but was followed closely behind by senior captain Ariella Harrington (Woburn, Mass.). Harrington finished fourth overall, after 18 minutes and nine seconds.
The 5th place spot was secured by first year Christina Annicelli (North Easton, Mass.). Annicelli ended the course in 18:25, and was selected Rookie of the Week by the GNAC for her performance in her first collegiate race.
Also marking their spot in the top 10 at the meet were sophomore Amanda Driscoll (Roslindale, Mass.) and senior Stephanie Hauck (Westwood, Mass.). Driscoll completed seventh, running the race in 18:45, and Hauck seized the 10th spot, ending at 19:21.
Lasell will compete again next Saturday, September 12th, at Roger Williams University in Bristol, RI.
