Womens Cross Country Puts Together Fine Performance at Gordon
WENHAM, MA. The Lasell College womens cross country team placed 14th out of 31 teams at the annual Pop Crowell Invitational during a windswept, rainstorm on the Gordon College campus this Saturday afternoon. Sophomore Meghan Missett (Lowell, Mass.) ran a personal best over the 3.2 mile course and was the first Laser to complete the race.
WENHAM, MA. - The Lasell College women's cross country team placed 14th out of 31 teams at the annual Pop Crowell Invitational during a windswept, rainstorm on the Gordon College campus this Saturday afternoon. Sophomore Meghan Missett (Lowell, Mass.) ran a personal best over the 3.2 mile course and was the first Laser to complete the race.
Neighboring Wellesley College was the top team to finish the Pop Crowell meet with 38 points. University of Southern Maine and Salve Regina University were the second and third place finishers overall. Johnson and Wales University was the only GNAC team to place ahead of the Lasers, finishing the race with 322 points in 12th place. Lasell's 14th place finish was scored with 420 points.
Missett placed 55th overall out of the 290 total competitors. She dropped 14 seconds off her previous personal best, which stood at 21:40 from last season on the same course. Missett finished with a time of 21:26.
Senior Ariella Harrington (Woburn, Mass.) was the next scorer for Lasell, finishing in 95th place overall, crossing the finish of the race at 22:06. Freshman Christina Annicelli (North Easton, Mass.) and sophomore Amanda Driscoll (Roslindale, Mass.) were the next Lasers to complete. Annicelli was just 24 seconds behind Harrington, finishing in 111th place, while Driscoll ended in 151st place with a run of 23 minutes, 41 seconds.
Stephanie Hauck (Westwood, Mass.) also aided the Lasers in their fine group performance. Hauck took 175th place, running the course in 24:19.
Cheree Iadevaia (Warwick, RI), and Catherine Hart (Dedham, Mass.) concluded the race with times of 28:20 and 33:00.
Lasell's women's cross country team finished ahead of four other GNAC teams, including Emerson, Emmanuel, St. Joseph's, Maine, and Mount Ida.
The Lasers head to St. Joseph's, Maine on Saturday October 10th for the Running Monks Invitational.
