WVB: Lasers Down Pride 3-1
Weston, MA- In a pivotal GNAC matchup on Wednesday afternoon, Lasell University powered past Regis College in four sets, earning a 3-1 victory at the Regis Athletic Complex. The win improves the Lasers to 13-3 overall and 4-1 in conference play, while the Pride fall to 12-8 and suffer their first conference loss, now standing at 6-1 in GNAC action.
Lasell came out strong, capturing the first two sets 25-21 and 25-17 with balanced offensive play and timely defense. Regis responded in the third, using an efficient attack to take the frame 25-19, but Lasell rebounded with a dominant fourth set, hitting .379 to close out the match 25-21.
Senior Morgan Bogli led the Lasers with 16 kills and a .316 hitting percentage, adding 2 block assists and a team-high 17.0 points. Andrea Aceituno contributed 8 kills, 20 digs, and 2 service aces, while Victoria Pariseault had a near-perfect performance, tallying 4 kills on 9 swings with no errors (.444), along with 3 block assists. Setter Sydney Katz distributed the offense with 27 assists and chipped in 5 digs and 3 block assists.
Lasell's defense held Regis to a .080 team hitting percentage. The Lasers racked up 60 digs, 7 service aces, and 16 block assists, stifling the Pride's rhythm for most of the match. Regis was led by Beatriz Paulo and Grace Fabiano, who posted 11 and 10 kills respectively. Eva Catalanotto added 7 kills and 5 service aces in a strong all-around performance, but Regis struggled with errors, especially in the second set where they hit -.179 as a team.
