NEWTON, Mass. – Senior Olivia Addington (Orange, Calif.) and freshman Kiana Perez (Juncos, P.R.) combined for 30 kills and 45 digs Saturday afternoon as Lasell College defeated Emmanuel College, 3-1, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's volleyball match at the Lasell Athletic Center.
The visiting Saints took the first set, 25-23, but the Lasers came back to sweep the next three sets, 25-18, 25-20 and 25-23. Lasell extended its winning streak to seven matches, improving to 11-12 overall and 8-2 in the GNAC, while Emmanuel drops to 7-12 overall and 4-5 in conference play.
Addington recorded 14 kills and 22 digs for her 13th double-double of the season, while Perez tallied 16 kills and 23 digs for her eighth double-double. Freshman Meghan Roberts (Newington, Conn.) chipped in with 10 kills and a team-high .333 attack percentage for the Lasers.
Senior Mary Shelow (Miami, Fla.) led the way for the Saints with 16 kills and 13 digs. Seniors Katharine Journeay (Hampton, N.H.) and Casey Sheehan (Medway, Mass.) recorded 21 and 20 digs, respectively,
Lasell had a 21-18 lead in the opening set before Emmanuel ran off six straight points and held on for a 25-23 decision to win the set. The Saints had a 15-13 lead in the second set but Lasell returned the favor with six straight points of their own, pulling ahead 19-13. The Lasers won five of the last six points to win the set and even the match at one set apiece.
The team traded leads in the third set before Lasell went on a late run and pulled out a 25-20 verdict. The Lasers led most of the fourth set before Emmanuel staged a late comeback to tie the set at 23-all, but an error by Emmanuel and a kill by Roberts sealed the match for Lasell.

The Lasers will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday when they host nationally-ranked Johnson & Wales University in a key GNAC match at the Athletic Center at 7:00 p.m. Emmanuel returns to the court Tuesday with a non-conference match at Salem State University at 7:00 p.m.
