Women's Volleyball Knocks Off Bridgewater St. at Union Invitational

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (10/11/14) – The Lasell College women's volleyball team went 1-3 in the Union College Invitational, playing four matches over two days. Lasell dropped a 3-0 result to Skidmore College on Friday evening and fell to Susquehanna in three sets as well. After losing 3-0 to the host Dutchwomen to open the day, Lasell rebounded and took home a 3-0 victory against Bridgewater St. in their final match of the tournament. Freshmen Meredith Eagan was named to the All-Tournament team after recording 16 kills and eight digs in the final three matches of the event. Lasell slid to 4-22 on the season and will be back in action on Tuesday October 14^th when they travel to UMass-Dartmouth for a 7:00 p.m. tilt.

Skidmore 3 – Lasell 0

The Lasers lost 3-0 to the Thoroughbreds, falling by scores of 25-16, 25-11, and 25-18. Odina Ellis led the way for Lasell with nine kills, Cassandra Stout tallied 13 digs and Alyssa Nahigian recorded a team-high 11 assists.

Susquehanna 3 – Lasell 0

Susquehanna used a strong service game recording 16 service aces as they defeated Lasell 25-12, 25-8 and 25-8. Kathy Cameron finished with four kills on six attacks for the Lasers and Taylor Tiezzi handed out 11 assists.

Union 3 – Lasell 0

The Dutchwomen topped Lasell in three sets on the strength of an efficient attack, hitting .279 on their way to scores of 27-25, 25-13 and 25-16. Heather Longley recorded a team-high seven kills for Lasell, while Odina Ellis and Meredith Eagan each chipped in six kills. Caitlyn Garcia posted a team-high 11 digs and Taylor Tiezzi dished out 21 assists while directing the Lasell attack.

Lasell 3 – Bridgewater State 0

The Lasers played a strong defensive match at the net to secure the 3-0 win over the Bears, tallying nine total blocks to win 25-22, 25-23, and 25-20. Heather Longley led Lasell with nine kills and one and a half blocks, Meredith Eagan added seven kills, and Michele Canestro chipped in six kills and one and a half blocks. Kathy Cameron and Odina Ellis combined to lead the Lasers effort at the net tallying a five and a half blocks collectively.
