Women's Volleyball Picks Up First Win Of the Season over Norwich

Newton, Mass. – The Lasell College women's volleyball team won their first match of the season, defeating Norwich University 3-0 by scores of 26-24, 25-18 and 25-23. The Lasers are now 1-11 on the year, and 1-1 in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference, while Norwich dropped to 5-3 overall and 1-1 in the GNAC.

Alexis Chappell (Springfield, Mass.) led Lasell with 10 kills, with Anna Feeter (Petersborough, N.H.) and Sara Biondo (Coventry, R.I.) each chipping in seven kills. Alyssa Nahigian (Coventry, R.I.) directed a potent Laser attack, tallying 27 assists in the three set match. Feeter and Nahigian each finished with four aces apiece. Tara Lyons (Pocasset, Mass.) finished with nine kills for Norwich and Corinne Baita (Rochester, N.H.) notched six kills, while Gabrielle Miller (Grove City, Ohio) handed out 19 assists in a losing effort for the Cadets.

Norwich will spend the weekend squaring off with a pair of GNAC foes, taking on Johnson and Wales University and St. Joseph's (CT) in a tri-match. Lasell will head to the US Coast Guard Academy for a trio of matches over the weekend, taking on the host Bears, as well as DeSales and Middlebury.
