NASHUA, NH— No. 2 seeded Rivier College advanced to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament semifinals on Tuesday after a 3-0 defeat of no. 7 Lasell College women's volleyball.
The Raiders won in three straight sets (25-13, 25-14, 25-14) in order to move onto the semi finals at which time they will host no. 3 Emmanuel College on Thursday, November 3rd, at 7:00 p.m.
Senior setter, and this week's GNAC Player of the Week, Meghan Crozier (Ballston Spa, NY) stood out with a double-double in her final performance in the Blue & White. Crozier notched 16 assists and 10 digs against the Raiders. Over her career, Crozier has recorded 3,036 assists and 1,059 digs, good for 2nd all time in Lasell's program history in assists, and 5th in digs.
Fellow senior Jenna Lynn Geary (Marion, MA) collected a team-best 12 digs to conclude her career total at 1,018 digs. Geary's total lands her at 6th on the all-time list for Lasell women's volleyball players.
Senior middle Danielle Drapeau put away four kills, three blocks, and three digs in the quarter final matchup. Drapeau also stands as an all-time leader at Lasell after her final contest as a Laser. She finished her career with 297 total blocks, a program best, and 1,164 kills, good for second on the leaders list.
Freshman Alexis Chappell (Springfield, MA) led the team's offense on Tuesday with five kills. Sophomores Sara Biondo (Coventry, RI) and Marisa Visocchi (Whitman, MA) combined for 20 digs and senior Eileen Barrett (Ludlow, MA) notched four kills.
The Lasers' season was closed in the tournament contest, leaving their final record to stand at 16-19, with an 8-5 conference slate.
