WORCESTER, MA-- WPI women's volleyball held off Lasell College with a 3-0 match victory on Thursday night. The Engineers won the contest by scores of 25-17, 25-21, 25-21, and improve to 17-7 this season. Lasell drops to 12-16 this year.
The Lasers were led offensively by Danielle Drapeau (Biddeford, ME) with 13 kills. The senior middle pulled off an impressive .357 attack percentage, with 13 kills on 28 attempts with just three errors.
Equally impressive defense was produced by Anna Feeter (Peterborough, NH), Alexis Chappell (Springfield, MA), and Jenna Lynn Geary (Marion, MA). Feeter led all players in the contest with 16 digs, followed closely by Chappell with 14, and Geary with 13.
The real story of the night was senior setter Meghan Crozier (Ballston Spa, NY) who collected her 1,000th career dig against the Engineers. Crozier recorded seven digs in the match, needing just four to reach the noteworthy milestone. She added 12 assists in the match.
The Lasers will face Emerson College and Albertus Magnus College on Saturday in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference trimatch. The Lasers match up with host Emerson at 10:00 a.m. and Albertus at 12:00 p.m.
