Riley Recognized as GNAC Women’s Volleyball Rookie of the Week

Newton, MA—Freshman outside hitter Taylor Riley (Greencastle, PA) has been recognized by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) as the women's volleyball Rookie of the Week.


Riley earned the honor after a fantastic week for the Lasers in which she combined for 61 kills and 64 digs, had three double-double performances, led the Lasers in three-of-five games offensively, and was named to the All-Tournament team at the Union College Invitational over the weekend.


Riley started out the week with 10 digs against current conference leading Rivier College (13-8, 7-0 GNAC). She then produced big numbers all weekend while the Lasers competed in the Union College Invitational.  Riley started the weekend with 14 kills and 22 digs against the hosting Dutchwomen and followed that performance with15 kills and 11 digs against Oneonta State.  On Saturday, Riley posted 14 kills and 15 digs in the Lasers 3-1 win over SUNY Potsdam.


Over the course of the week, Riley averaged 2.5 and 2.6 digs per set.


Riley is currently second on the team in total kills this season with 146, averaging 2.00 per set.  She has played in 73 sets and has also collected 157 digs, 10 aces, and 14 blocks and has recorded five double-doubles so far during her rookie season.
