Lasers Take Part in 2010 Heart Walk to Defeat Cardiovascular Diseases

Boston, MA—On Saturday, September 11th, 2010, the Lasell College women's volleyball team took part in the 2010 Heart Walk, put on by the American Heart Association at the DCR Hatch Shell on the Charles River in Boston.  The American Heart Association is the largest health organization working to prevent, treat, and defeat the nation's number one killer, heart disease.

The Lasers walked six miles in support of the cure on the Brigham Women's Heart Steppers Team, alongside head coach Mary Tom whom works for Brigham Women's Physicians Organization.  The squad raised over $200 to help combat cardiovascular diseases which claim more than 865,000 American lives a year.

All together, the Heart Walk has raised 1.4 million dollars and is still accepting donations on their way to their goal of 2.5 million.  Jared Fogle, the spokesperson for Subway Corporation, was on hand to promote healthy eating.
