Women’s Volleyball Wins in Three at Wentworth
Boston, Mass.-- The Lasell College women’s volleyball team dominated the Leopards of Wentworth Institute of Technology in a three set match on Thursday night. The Lasers won easily by scores of 25-10, 25-19, and 25-15. With the win, Lasell’s record improves to 7-17, while Wentworth stands at 9-12 overall.
Boston, Mass.-- The Lasell College women's volleyball team dominated the Leopards of Wentworth Institute of Technology in a three set match on Thursday night. The Lasers won easily by scores of 25-10, 25-19, and 25-15. With the win, Lasell's record improves to 7-17, while Wentworth stands at 9-12 overall.
Sophomore middle hitter Danielle Drapeau (Biddeford, ME) had an outstanding match, hitting in double figures with 13 kills, while also reaching double-digits in the digs with 12. Drapeau hit an impressive .345 clip through the 3-0 contest.
Also giving a notable performance was sophomore setter Meghan Crozier (Ballston Spa, NY) who distributed 26 assists and picked up 12 digs on defense.
Producing seven kills and two blocks was freshman Elizabeth Nichols (Southington, Conn.). On the outside for Lasell, with six kills apiece, were junior, captain Melanie Costa (Ludlow, Mass.) and sophomore Eileen Barrett (Ludlow, Mass.). Costa and Barrett also combined for 25 digs.
Senior, captain and libero Amanda Major (Southbury, Conn.) tied with Costa for a team-best 15 digs, and Lauren Short (Scarsdale, NY) put down four service aces and collected seven dug balls.
On Saturday, October 17th, the Lasers will host a tri-match with GNAC foes Emmanuel College and Johnson & Wales University. The Lasers will face JWU at 10:00 a.m. and Emmanuel at 2:00 p.m. with the two visiting teams facing off at noon.
Major will be honored during Senior Day celebrations at the 2:00 game, as she is the sole senior for the women's volleyball program. Lasell will also be celebrating Family, Friends, and Alumni Weekend this upcoming weekend.
