Lasers Drop Two at Tri-Match

Biddeford, ME-Lasell's women's volleyball team dropped two matches in a tri-match with tough non-conference rivals University of New England and Babson College on Saturday afternoon. The Lasers are now 5-9 overall this season.
During the opening match, the Nor'easters proved to be a New England powerhouse, moving past the Lasers by scores of 25-10, 25-18, and 25-8 in the final set.
Amanda Major (Southbury, Conn.) averaged 5.33 digs per set en route to a 16-dig performance. Jenna-Lynn Geary (Marion, Mass.) was also displayed her defensive skills picking up five digs per set for a 15 dig match.
Meghan Crozier (Ballston Spa, NY) distributed 13 assists in the contest and the front line Danielle Drapeau (Biddeford, ME) and Elizabeth Nichols (Southington, Conn.) each attacked for five kills.
Following the New England match, the Lasers faced a formidable opponent in the Babson College Beavers. Lasell gave the Beavers a run with three close sets including forcing extra points in the final set, but dropped the match 3-0.
Drapeau and Nichols once again matched up kill-for-kill with six apiece. Drapeau led the team with her attack percentage, hitting a .273 clip, while also adding in two blocks in the defeat.
Crozier handed out 18 assists in the contest and added seven digs on defense. Major supported the defensive end with 16 additional digs for the day, and Geary chipped in 13 more herself.
Chelsea Rohrig (Milford, Conn.) also contributed five kills into the mix for Lasell.
The final scores of the contest were 25-17, 25-19, and 28-26.
Lasell returns to GNAC action on Saturday, October 3rd, when they will face Emerson College and St. Joseph's Maine at the Monks home court in Standish, Maine.
