Lasers Pick Up 1st Win at Lesley University
Cambridge, Mass.- The Lasell College women's volleyball team beat the Lynx of Lesley University 3-0 on Wednesday night, picking up their first win of the young 2009 season.
Cambridge, Mass.- The Lasell College women's volleyball team beat the Lynx of Lesley University 3-0 on Wednesday night, picking up their first win of the young 2009 season. The Lasers took the three sets in convincing manner, striking at 25-19, 25-14, and 25-18 for the match.
The Lasers serve was on point during the match, as the team combined for 11 service aces. Sophomore setting Meghan Crozier (Ballston Spa, NY) tallied four of those aces and senior libero Amanda Major (Southbury, Conn.) and sophomore middle Danielle Drapeau added two apeice.
Elizabeth Nichols (Southington, Conn.) and Drapeau also continue to be dominant at the net for Lasell, combining for nine of the team's total kills. Nichols, a first year middle, dropped in five kills while Drapeau swung for four points.
The team as a whole put down 18 kills, with Crozier distributing 13 assists on those points. Major was a defensive pro, digging nine balls for a match-high.
Also contributing some of the Lasers numbers was sophomore Eileen Barrett (Ludlow, Mass.) who had four kills to go along with two blocks. Barrett had the highest Lasell hitting percentage for the contest, at a .250.
Lasell will begin Great Northeast Athletic Conference play on Saturday, September 12th when they travel to Norwich University for a tri-match with Castleton State College. The Lasers will play at noon and 2:00 p.m.
