Lasell Opens Conference Play with a Win
The Lasers took on GNAC rivals St. Josephs College, Connecticut this afternoon on their home court and won 3-1. This is the first conference matchup for the Lasers this season, who are now 3-7 overall, and 1-0 in the GNAC.

In the opening two games, the Lasers played consistently well, and won the sets, 25-21 and 25-20. During the third set, the blue jays found their rhythm, due in large part to the play of sophomore middle hitter Brittany Souza (Newington, CT) who had key blocks and attacks, setting St. Joseph's on a run. The Blue Jays won the third set 25-21.
In the final set, the Lasers came out on fire, opening the game 8-1. Though the Blue Jays attempted comeback late in the set, the Lasers held on and prevailed, 25-21.
Nicole Wetterman (Dighton, MA) was impressive for the Lasers today, with 10 kills throughout the match, and hitting a .286 clip. Danielle Drapeau (Biddeford, ME) was also strong offensively, coming in with 9 kills for Lasell. Setting up the Lasers' offense was Meghan Crozier (Ballston Spa, NY), who produced 19 assists.
Defensively, the Lasers had 46 digs overall, with Amanda Major (Southbury, CT) and Jenna-Lynn Geary (Marion, MA) picking up 30 of those combined.
The Lasers continue league play on Tuesday, September 23rd, when they take on Johnson & Wales University on the Wildcats home court.
