LASELL COMPLETES 2008 SEASON
The Lasell College womens volleyball team completed their 2008 season on Tuesday night, in the quarter finals of the GNAC womens volleyball tournament. The Lasers were brought down by the hosting Raiders of Rivier College in three sets.

Though the Lasers were missing junior, libero Amanda Major (Southbury, CT) who averages over 17 digs per match, the rest of the Lasers defense stepped up, with five lasers picking up ten or more digs. Freshman setter Meghan Crozier (Ballston Spa, NY) ran the offense, dishing out 18 assists during the battle but also led the team in digs with 16 on the evening. Megan Gobeille (Lincoln, RI) finished next with 14 digs. Jenna-Lynn Geary (Marion, MA) and Melanie Costa (Ludlow, MA) each picked up 13 digs in the match, and Kayla Binette (Biddeford, ME) finished with 10 dug balls.
Lasell's senior co-captain Kelsey Schmidt (Ballston Spa, NY) did everything she could against a tough Raiders defense. Schmidt led the attack for the Lasers, putting down 8 kills. Schmidt's counterpart middle, Danielle Drapeau (Biddeford, ME) was second on the team in kills, finding holes in the Raiders defense on five occasions. Drapeau also picked up 6 digs and 1.5 blocks in the match.
Nicole Wetterman (Dighton, MA) collected three kills and with no errors playing opposite. The senior co-captain also had one solo block. Geary and Eileen Barrett (Ludlow, MA) each threw in 3 kills as well.
Schmidt finishes the year with 186 kills and finishes her career with 751 total kills, which makes her third all time in school history to total kills. Schmidt is also first all time in blocks with 232 total blocks in her career, 56 of which she collected this season.
Wetterman finishes her senior year with 171 kills this season and 617 total kills. She is 5th all time in kills and blocks with 88 total blocks.
The Lasers finish the 2008 season with a 9-20 overall record.
