T&F: Record-Breaking Lasell Track Teams Score Big at GNAC Championship
Boston, MA– The Lasell University men's and women's indoor track & field teams turned in a historic performance at the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships, highlighted by record-setting point totals, championship medals, and a deep showing across events.
The Lasell men finished fourth out of five teams with 64 points, tying the best placement finish in program history while setting a new program record for points scored at the GNAC Championships, surpassing the previous mark of 48 set in 2020. On the women's side, the Lasers placed fifth out of six teams with 33 points, marking the third-highest championship score in program history.
Lasell athletes collected nine GNAC medals and multiple All-Conference honors throughout the meet. Jules Huckans led the way with a gold medal in the women's pole vault and added a silver medal in the long jump. Kayoni Jordan earned silver in the women's 60 meters, while Cameren Candelaria captured silver medals in both the men's 60 meters and 200 meters. The men's 4x400-meter relay team of Candelaria, Jordan Woodley, Darius Vincent, and Dante Mills also claimed silver, as did the men's distance medley relay featuring Juan Susa, Dylan Cullen, Evan Lewis, and Caleb Ruch. Bronze medals were secured by Caleb Ruch in the men's mile and Alex McFarlane in both the men's shot put and weight throw.
Depth scoring played a major role in Lasell's team success, with points added by Aiden Mitchell in the men's 60 meters, Dante Mills in the men's 200 and 400 meters, Juan Susa in the men's 3000 and 5000 meters, and Nate Gonzalez in the men's high jump. The women's 4x400-meter relay of Casey Davis, Kat Kohtala, Colleen Bartel, and Jules Huckans added points with a fourth-place finish, while Jenna Sargent contributed in the women's shot put.
The championships also saw a wave of school records fall. Cameren Candelaria set new marks in both the men's 60 meters and 200 meters, while Caleb Ruch broke the school record in the men's mile. Alex McFarlane established a new program best in the men's weight throw, and Kayoni Jordan reset the women's 60-meter record. Jules Huckans tied her own school record in the women's pole vault, and the men's 4x400-meter relay team closed the meet with a record-setting performance.
In addition to the school records, Lasell athletes combined for 13 additions to the program's all-time performance lists, including major jumps up the rankings across sprints, distance events, relays, and field events. The performances underscored the continued growth of the Lasell track & field program and capped off a championship meet defined by depth, consistency, and historic results.
