4v4 Team Breaks School Record in Women’s Track and Field

NEWTON, Mass. (12/06/14) – The Lasell College women's track and field team kicked off their 2014-15 schedule on Saturday, December 6th at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center in the UMass-Boston Invitational meet.

The 4v400 meter relay team set a new school record, with a final time of 4:46.23. Freshman Lauren Lenahan (Weymouth, Mass.) led off for the team, followed by sophomore Ayumi Ranucci (Auburn, Maine), junior Jamie Russo (Watertown, Mass.), and junior anchor Melissa Cooley (Huntington Beach, Calif.).

In the women's mile, sophomore Amy MacDonald (Burlington, Mass.) made a standout debut performance, placing 33rd overall with a time of 5:57.39. Russo crossed the line short after MacDonald at 6:16.40.

Lenahan placed 70th in the 200M dash at 29.56, while freshman MacKadie Heon (Uncasville, Conn.) crossed the line at 33.94.

Ranucci led Lasell in the 60M dash, placing 54th with a time of 8.85.

The squad will lace up again on Saturday, December 13th to compete in the Jay Cairsella Invitational at the Reggie Lewis Center.
