Another Record Breaking Outing for the Women’s Track & Field Team
CAMBRIDGE, MA- Solange Carpenter (Gorham, ME), Chelsea Zeig (West Nyack, NY), and Sam Peck (Woodbury, CT) each set new records for the Lasell women’s track & field team on Saturday at the MIT Co-Ed Invitational.
CAMBRIDGE, MA- Solange Carpenter (Gorham, ME), Chelsea Zeig (West Nyack, NY), and Sam Peck (Woodbury, CT) each set new records for the Lasell women's track & field team on Saturday at the MIT Co-Ed Invitational.
Carpenter took 10 seconds off the previous Lasell record in the 400 meter, clocking a 1:06.9, during her first time competing in the event. Zeig broke her own previous record of 10.22 meters in the shot put, throwing a distance of 10.55 meters. Peck also topped her own previous-best in the long jump, recording a distance of 4.7 meters, bettering her prior results of 4.53 meters. Peck's performance earned her 9th place overall at the meet.
Peck also participated in the triple jump, recording a distance of 9.74 meters, and the 55 meter hurdles, with a time of 9.57 seconds. Kendall Logsdon (Palmer, MA) rounded out the field events, taking part in the triple jump and the long jump, putting in a distance of 9.62 meters and 4.57 meters respectively.
In the running events, Logsdon also came in 11th place in the 55 meter dash with a time of 8.06 seconds. Close behind her was Kaitlyn Masionis with a time of 8.95 seconds. Kristen Cruickshank (Malden, MA), Meridith Bienvenue (Addison, VT), and Jen Lemoine (Trumbull, CT) ran in the 200 meter and clocked times of 33.19, 35.22, and 35.85 seconds, in that order.
Alexandra Smith (North Easton, MA) produced season-best with a time of 3:03.8 in the 800 meter run and Meghan Missett (Lowell, MA) ran a time of 6:12.4 in the mile.
The Lasers will next compete in the Smith Tartan Invitational on Saturday, February 5th. The meet begins at 10:00 a.m.
