Boston, MA- The Lasell University women's soccer team continued its strong season with a 2–0 road victory over Simmons University on Wednesday evening. The Lasers improved to 10–2–2 overall and 9–1–1 in conference play, while the Sharks dropped to 3–11–1 and 1–9–1 in the league.
Lasell took control early, finding the back of the net twice in the opening half. In the 11th minute, junior midfielder Julianna Huckans broke through the Simmons defense and scored off an assist from Ava Champagne to put the Lasers ahead 1–0. Sixteen minutes later, senior defender Brooke Bell doubled the lead, firing home an unassisted strike in the 28th minute to make it 2–0.
From there, Lasell's defense and goalkeeper Elizabeth DaSilva took over. DaSilva recorded three saves to earn her clean sheet, improving her season record to 10–2–2. The Lasers' back line limited Simmons to just five shots, three of which were on goal.
Offensively, Lasell generated steady pressure throughout the match, outshooting Simmons 17–5 and holding a 12–3 advantage in shots on goal. The Lasers also matched the Sharks in corner kicks, each team taking three.
