Newton, MA- The Lasell University women's soccer team celebrated their seniors and delivered an explosive offensive performance on Saturday afternoon, cruising to a 9–1 victory over Mitchell College.
Lasell came out firing early and after several big saves by Mitchell's goalkeeper, including a stop on a penalty kick, Kaleigh Kosta broke through in the ninth minute, finishing a setup from Julianna Huckans and Peyton Joyce to put the Lasers ahead 1–0. The momentum continued as Ayla Hathaway netted back-to-back goals in the 22nd and 29th minutes to stretch the lead to 3–0. Less than a minute later, Ava Champagne added another tally off a Kendall Sniper assist, making it 4–0. Lasell closed out a dominant first half with a goal from Juleighani Soto, assisted by Brianna Marrero, sending the team into the break up 5–0.
The second half was more of the same, as Huckans scored twice within the opening three minutes to extend the lead to 7–0. Hathaway completed her hat trick in the 61st minute, and Champagne added her second goal of the day off another Marrero assist to push the score to 9–0. Mitchell found a late consolation goal in the 68th minute, but the Lasers remained firmly in control to the final whistle. Goalkeepers Elizabeth DaSilva and Regan Sullivan combined for a solid outing in net, each contributing key saves to preserve the lead.
