Newton, MA- The Lasell University women's soccer team battled with heart and determination on Wednesday afternoon but came up just short in a hard-fought 2-3 loss to visiting Albertus Magnus College.
The match opened with a balanced, back-and-forth pace as both sides created early scoring opportunities. The Falcons broke through first in the 11th minute, converting on a quick counterattack. Lasell answered late in the half when Brianna Marrero buried a perfectly timed cross from Brooke Bell in the 42nd minute, sending the teams into halftime locked at 1-1.
The Lasers carried that momentum into the second half, striking just minutes after the restart. Ava Buchmann capitalized on a scramble in the box to give Lasell a 2-1 advantage. Albertus responded in the 58th minute to even the score once more before netting the go-ahead goal in the 72nd minute. Despite relentless pressure and several late pushes toward goal, the Lasers couldn't find the equalizer. Lasell showed grit and composure throughout the match, fighting until the final whistle in one of their most competitive efforts of the season.
Up Next- The Lasers will look to bounce back on Saturday, October 18, when they host Mitchell College for their Senior Day matchup.
