Northfield, Vt. (10/8/12) - The Lasell College women's soccer team saw a valiant comeback effort fall short, as they dropped their first Great Northeast Athletic Conference match of the season at Norwich University, 3-2. Norwich improved to 5-6-2 overall and 3-4-2 in the GNAC, while Lasell fell to 9-2-0 on the year, and 7-1-0 in the league.

Bridget Lynch (Dover, N.H.) scored her 17th goal of the season and twin sister Kayla Lynch (Dover, N.H.) added her seventh goal of the year for Lasell. The Lasers had 25 shots on the day, however only six were on frame, while Norwich put nine of their 14 on goal in the match. Baylie Lamarre (Tyngsboro, Mass.) and Brittany Casey (Point-Claire, Quebec) each tallied a goal and an assist for the Cadets, who also got a goal from Sara Goes (East Providence, R.I.) to power their attack.

The Cadets got on the board in just the second minute of the match, when Lamarre's free kick from 40 yards out eluded the Lasers keeper and gave Norwich a 1-0 lead. In the 37th minute Goes flicked a ball past Leah Pappalardo who was coming off her line looking to gather in a deflected shot to put norwich ahead 2-0. Casey out-ran the Lasell defense to a long ball in the 45th minute before slotting the ball into the right side of the net to put the Cadets up 3-0 at the half.

Lasell responded, using the Bridget Lynch goal in the 53rd minute to trim the deficit to 3-1. The Lasers continued to pressure, adding their second goal when Kayla Lynch netted in the 81st minute, making it 3-2. The visitors nearly drew level in the 87th minute, but saw their final attacking opportunity roll just outside the post ending their chances.

Lasell will be off until Saturday October 13th when they will host Albertus Magnus College at 12pm at Taylor Field. The match will be part of the National Foundation for Cancer Research "NFCR All-Stars" campaign, helping raise money for and awareness of breast cancer.
