Boston, MA- The Lasell women's lacrosse team battled back throughout the afternoon but couldn't overcome an early deficit, falling 14-11 to Emmanuel in GNAC action on Saturday at Clemente Field.
Emmanuel came out firing, scoring five times in the opening quarter to take control early. Emily Watson got Lasell on the board midway through the first, finishing off a feed from Ruby Cahill, but the Saints carried a 5-1 lead into the second.
The Lasers began to chip away in the second quarter behind Mara Boldy, who converted twice on free-position opportunities, but Emmanuel maintained its edge and took an 8-3 advantage into halftime.
Lasell showed resilience coming out of the break, using a 4-4 third quarter to stay within striking distance. Goals from Lily Hunt, Boldy, Cahill, and Emma Dressel helped keep pace, but the Saints answered each push to hold a 12-7 lead heading into the final frame.
The fourth quarter saw Lasell make its strongest push, opening with back-to-back goals from Dressel and Boldy to cut the deficit to three. After Emmanuel responded, the Lasers continued to battle, getting late goals from Dressel and Hunt, but ultimately ran out of time in the 14-11 final.
Boldy led the offense with four goals, while Dressel added a hat trick and six draw controls. Hunt finished with two goals and two assists, and Watson contributed four points on a goal and three assists. Cahill chipped in three points in the effort.
