Standish, ME - Lasell ran into a tough road test on Tuesday evening, falling 18-7 to Saint Joseph's (Maine) in GNAC action at the SJC Athletic Complex.
Saint Joseph's controlled the pace early, building a 9-2 halftime advantage behind a dominant second quarter that saw five unanswered goals in a two-minute stretch. The Monks finished with a 42-12 edge in shots and won 17 draw controls, limiting Lasell's offensive opportunities throughout the night.
Lily Hunt got Lasell on the board in the first quarter, while Emily Watson added a second-quarter tally to keep the Lasers within reach heading into the break. Out of halftime, Lasell showed a spark as Ruby Cahill scored twice in the opening minute of the third quarter, cutting the deficit to 9-4. However, Saint Joseph's responded with a decisive 5-0 run to regain control and put the game out of reach.
Cahill led the Lasers with three goals, while Hunt added two goals and an assist. Watson chipped in a goal and an assist along with five ground balls and two draw controls, and Emma Dressel rounded out the scoring with a fourth-quarter goal.
Defensively, Lasell collected 22 ground balls, with Hunt and Watson each grabbing five, while Zoe Avery added three draw controls. Goalkeeper Joy Sayah finished with 12 saves in the loss.
