WLAX: Lasers Dominate Sharks 16-6 in Conference Win
Brighton, MA- Lasell women's lacrosse opened its 2026 campaign with a conference matchup against Simmons College, earning a decisive 16–6 victory over the Sharks.
Lasell struck first and built early momentum behind Ruby Cahill, who scored the game's opening three goals to give the Lasers a quick 3–0 advantage midway through the first quarter. Simmons responded with three straight goals of their own to even the score at 3–3 heading into the second.
The Lasers regained control in the second quarter, starting with an Emily Watson free-position goal before Lily Hunt and Brianna McNeil added scores to send Lasell into halftime with a 6–4 lead.
Lasell broke the game open in the third quarter, scoring six goals in the frame. Cahill continued to lead the charge with three goals in the quarter, while Mara Boldy, Emma Dressel, and Hunt each found the back of the net to extend the Lasers' lead to 12–6 heading into the final period.
The Lasell defense and goalkeeper Joy Sayah shut the door in the fourth quarter, holding Simmons scoreless while the Lasers added four more goals. McNeil opened the scoring in the period before Boldy, Dressel, and a power-play goal from Boldy capped the 16–6 victory.
Cahill led all players with six goals and three assists, contributing to nine of Lasell's 16 goals. Boldy finished with three goals, while Hunt and McNeil each added two goals. Dressel also recorded two goals, and Watson contributed one goal and one assist. Defensively, Sayah made nine saves in a complete-game effort in net.
Up Next: Lasell will return to action this weekend with a non-conference matchup against Fitchburg State on Sunday at 11 a.m.
