WLAX: Alice Rourke Named GNAC Rookie of the Year; Kaitlin Bedell Earns All-Conference Second Team Honors
Newton, MA – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) has announced its 2025 Women's Lacrosse All-Conference teams, and Lasell University was once again in the spotlight. Freshman attacker Alice Rourke was named GNAC Rookie of the Year and All-Conference Second Team, while graduate midfielder Kaitlin Bedell earned All-Conference Second Team honors following a dominant all-around season.
Rourke, a native of Norwich, Connecticut, was a key offensive piece for Lasell in her debut season. She finished with 46 goals across 15 games, ranking second on the team in scoring. She posted eight multi-goal performances, including a six-goal outburst in a crucial win over New England College. Rourke's consistency and offensive presence earned her five GNAC Rookie of the Week awards, marking her as one of the league's top young stars.
Joining Rourke among the conference's best was Kaitlin Bedell, who turned in a spectacular graduate campaign and was recognized with Second Team All-GNAC honors. Starting all 18 games for the Lasers, Bedell filled the stat sheet on a weekly basis and was one of the most complete players in the conference. She led the team with 61 goals and added 15 assists for a total of 76 points, ranking among the GNAC's top offensive producers. In addition to her scoring, Bedell was a two-way force. She collected 43 ground balls, led the team with 56 draw controls, and forced 33 turnovers, all while maintaining a high work rate on both ends of the field. Bedell also drew consistent attention from opposing defenses, but her ability to generate offense under pressure helped fuel Lasell's attack all season long.
Rounding out the Lasers All-Conference selections was senior defender Shannon Borbee who was named to the GANC All-Sportsmanship team.
