Newton, MA- The Lasell University women's basketball team earned a 60–51 Great Northeast Athletic Conference victory over Regis College, using a strong defensive effort and dominant work on the glass to pull away late.
The Lasers edged the Pride 18–17 in the opening quarter and extended the lead heading into halftime behind active defensive pressure and second-chance opportunities. Lasell held Regis to just nine points in the second quarter to take a 32–26 advantage into the break. The third quarter proved to be a defensive battle, with both teams scoring nine points, before the Lasers created separation in the final 10 minutes by outscoring Regis 19–16 to seal the win.
Lasell controlled the boards throughout the night, finishing with a 62–25 rebounding advantage, including 27 offensive rebounds that consistently created extra possessions. Hailey Johnson led the way with an efficient 16-point performance on 8-of-11 shooting while adding six rebounds and three blocks. Shirle Major contributed 11 points, including 6-of-7 from the free throw line, while Blaize Mack was a force inside with 17 rebounds to go along with eight points. Ashley Gagner added seven points and four assists off the bench, and Abigail Duclos chipped in six points and a team-high six assists.
