WBB: Lasers beat Framingham 64-56
Newton, MA- The Lasers added climb to 5-0 on the season after a 64-56 victory over the Rams of Framingham State Friday night.
Lasell came out sharp and organized, pushing the tempo early and establishing control with steady ball movement. Shirle Major set the tone offensively with confident drives and perimeter looks, while Laura Johnson and Blaize Mack controlled the defensive glass to limit Framingham State's second-chance chances. Lasell's composure and efficiency helped them finish the opening quarter with a slight edge and momentum.
Framingham State countered with a strong interior response. Lasell held firm thanks to disciplined execution and a well-balanced attack: Major continued to score in rhythm, Daeserae Williamson added high-energy touches inside, and Johnson owned the glass, working toward what became a 14-rebound night. Even as the Rams made their best push of the half, Lasell's defensive organization, highlighted by 11 first-half steals, kept them in front heading into halftime 20-9.
The third quarter became a heavyweight exchange of scoring runs. Framingham State found a rhythm from mid-range and at the free-throw line, helping close the gap. The Lasers responded with its most balanced stretch of the game. Mack crashed the boards for put-backs, Major hit rhythm threes, and Hailey Johnson came off the bench to provide efficient scoring with 10 points. Lasell's patience in the half-court helped them withstand Framingham's physicality, and they entered the fourth still holding a narrow but controlled lead.
Lasell's defense won the game in the final frame. The Lasers forced Framingham State into late-clock, contested attempts while limiting the Rams to one shot per possession. Major remained the closer offensively, and smart passing across the perimeter allowed them to generate high-percentage looks. Lasell's rebounding and composure sealed the result. Johnson and Mack cleaned up the final defensive boards, and Lasell closed out a 64–56 victory.
Up Next: The Lasers will travel to Suffolk University on Tuesday November 25 to face another hard non-conference matchup.
