WBB: Lasers Ranked 6th in GNAC Pre-Season Poll
Newton, MA- The Lasell University women's basketball team enters the 2025–26 campaign looking to build on lessons from last season and take a step forward under new leadership.
The Lasers welcome new head coach Matthew Reid, who joins Lasell after five years as Associate Head Coach at the University of New England (UNE). Reid brings more than 13 years of combined coaching experience at the collegiate, high school, and AAU levels.
After finishing the 2024–25 season with an 11–15 overall record and a 6–8 mark in conference play, the Lasers look to regroup with a fresh approach and renewed energy. Lasell was tied for sixth in the 2025 GNAC Women's Basketball Preseason Coaches' Poll, a position that reflects both the team's potential and the competitive nature of the conference heading into the new season.
This season's roster features 11 returners and six newcomers, including 10 underclassmen and seven upperclassmen—three of whom are seniors. The senior trio of Laura Johnson, Shirle Major, and Marisol Figueroa will anchor the team both on and off the court. Johnson and Major have been offensive leaders throughout their Lasell careers, combining for 1,377 points over 76 games. Both will serve as captains this season. Figueroa makes her return to the court after a two-year hiatus, bringing veteran experience and renewed determination to the Lasers lineup
Joining Johnson and Major in leadership roles are sophomore Alexis Bulson-Cuozzo and junior Hailey Johnson, who will also wear the captain's badge. Bulson-Cuozzo, who gained valuable experience behind last year's senior class, is ready to take on a larger role this season. Alongside them is junior Blaize Mack, a key returner who has started 36 of 50 games in her Lasell career while averaging 7.2 points per game.
With a mix of veteran leadership, youthful energy, and new coaching direction, the Lasers aim to make their mark in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) this season.
