WBB: Nealy, Major, and Damboise Honored by GNAC
Newton, MA - The GNAC announced their yearly basketball awards on Monday, and three Lasers were honored.
Sophomore guard Juju Nealy was named to the GNAC All-Conference Third team. The Fitchburg, MA native was a central figure in the Lasers' offense this year, leading the team with 14ppg. Nealy scored in double digits in 19 of the 24 games she played in, including a season high 24 points against Maine-Augusta. She also was effective on the defensive end, leading the team with two steals per game, including a career high seven against Colby-Sawyer.
Freshman guard Shirle Major was named to the conference's All-Rookie team. The Worcester, MA native was second on the team with 12ppg. She twice scored over 30 points, becoming just the third player in program history to score at least 30 points multiple times in their career. She also led the team in three point shooting at 31.9%. She made seven three pointers in the last game of the season, tying the school record for most in a single game.
Senior guard Brooke Damboise was named to the All-Sportsmanship team Damboise, a Bolton, CT native, averaged 4.1 ppg, and led the team with 2.2 assists per game.
