Newton, MA- The Lasell University softball team opened up conference play with a 10-2 win and a 4-2 loss against NEC.
Game 1-
Lasell was held to just two runs on seven hits in a 4–2 loss, despite a solid effort in the circle from Abigail Fortin. Fortin led the offense, going 2-for-4 with a run scored, Adreanna Ventullo and Shyanne Raccio drove in the team's only runs, and Ventullo also swiped a base. Defensively, Lasell ran into trouble with three errors, including two from Ventullo and one from Emily Stilwell, which proved costly.
In the circle, Fortin went the distance, allowing four runs on seven hits while striking out five and walking three over seven innings. She kept Lasell in the game throughout, but the offense couldn't generate enough support.
Game 2-
Lasell's offense broke out in a big way, putting up 10 runs on 10 hits. Abigail Fortin and Emily Stilwell set the tone at the top of the lineup, each going a perfect 3-for-3 while scoring two runs and swiping a base. Riley Michael added impact in the middle of the order, driving in two runs with a double and drawing a walk, while Shyanne Raccio helped her own cause with a hit, two runs scored, and an RBI.
In the circle, Raccio delivered a strong performance to earn the win, tossing five innings while allowing just one hit and two runs. She worked around five walks by striking out six and keeping the opposing lineup off balance throughout the game.
