SB: Lasers Drop Pair of Games vs Lancers

Newton, MA - On Wednesday afternoon, the Lancers of Worcester State visited the Lasell University Lasers on Taylor Field for two non-conference softball games. They claimed both games by scores of 7-0 and 13-0, collecting the doubleheader sweep over Lasell.
Game 1
Worcester State broke the scoreless tie in the third inning, with two runs scoring. The following inning, the Lancers then had a four-run burst that opened up their lead to 6-0. As for the Lasers, they had trouble connecting off pitcher Taylor Coonan, who allowed just four hits and pitched a complete game shutout. While the Laser offense was limited, Alyssa Bland and Katie Hopkins each collected doubles. Meghan Theall would take the loss, allowing six runs in 3.2 innings.
Game 2
The Lancers came out swinging again in game two, scoring three runs in the first. They would once again add several runs in the second inning to power an early 8-0 lead. Lasell would manage just two singles in the game - one from Emily Rondeau and another from Abigail Fortin - as the offense was stifled throughout the contest. Starting pitcher Shyanne Raccio took the loss, giving up eight runs in just over an inning of work. The game would eventually end in five innings due to the mercy rule.
