Men's and Women's Cross Country Take 5th at Emmanuel Fens Classic
NEWTON, Mass. (9/3/16) – The men’s and women’s cross country teams both took fifth place at the Emmanuel Fens Classic on Saturday afternoon.
NEWTON, Mass. (9/3/16) – The men's and women's cross country teams both took fifth place at the Emmanuel Fens Classic on Saturday afternoon.
On the men's side, sophomore Ryan Dalaba (North Granville, N.Y.) took 14th overall and crossed the line first for the Lasers, coming in at 17:17. In the next pack of runners, sophomore James Phelps (Westbrook, Maine) rolled in at 18:10.
Newcomers Mark Greenwald (Monmouth, Maine) and Matthew Holden (Methuen, Mass.) finished side by side at 18:31 and 18:41, respectively before veterans Troy Gonsalves (Providence, R.I.) and Kyle Vonick (Wethersfield, Conn.) crossed the finish line. Freshman Kevin Wallin (Billerica, Mass.) rounded the race out for Lasell, as they team posted a 1:31:50 total time.
Freshman Stephanie Amato (Westford, Mass.) had a fulfilling start to her season as a Laser, crossing the line first for Lasell at 13:31 in the two mile race. Stephanie Seeforf (Massapequa, N.Y.), Karli Manship (Pittsfield, Mass.), and Megan Stella (Warren, Mass.) finished in their respective pack, clocking in at 14:02, 14:04 and 14:04, respectively.
The women finished with a final time of 1:12:04, as Elizabeth Bennett (Warwick, R.I.) and Shannon Hart (Mashpee, Mass.) capped things off for the women.
Lasell will return to action on Saturday, September 10 as they head to Biddeford, Maine for the UNE Invitational at Rotary Park, starting at 10:45 a.m.
