Lasell Finishes 7th at Saints Invitational
Boston, Mass.- Matthew Scully (Watertown, Conn.) led the Lasell College mens cross country team to a seventh place finish at the 2009 Saints Invitational hosted by Emmanuel College at Franklin Park. Scully completed the 8000 meter run in 28 minutes 18.05 seconds, good for 34th place overall in the meet.

Scully completed the 8000 meter run in 28 minutes 18.05 seconds, good for 34th place overall in the meet.
One hundred and fifty total athletes took place in the men's race from 17 area colleges, including five GNAC institutions. The top four GNAC runners to finish the meet were all from Johnson & Wales University, including the first place finisher overall in the 8K race, which went to Greg Redfield with a time of 26:02.50. Scully was the fifth GNAC athlete to finish the course.
A trio of Laser athletes came through shortly after Scully, beginning with Isaac Soares (Somerset, Mass.) at the 29:27.44 mark. Just two seconds later, Patrick Slight (Franklin, Mass.) came through the finish, followed by Zachary Lambert (Marlborough, Mass.) one second subsequent to Slight. Soares earned 54th place in the meet, Slight earned 55th, and Lambert finished in 56th.
Senior, captain David Walsh (Springfield, Mass.) was the next Laser to complete in a time of 30:47.19, while Kris McCabe (Kingston, NY) ended the course shortly after at 31:15.04.
Miguel Taveras (Lawrence, Mass.), Grant Vantine (Fitchburg, Mass.) and Michael Isherwood (Warwick, RI) also finished the five mile course for Lasell, with times of 31:42.14, 32:36.00, and 37:46.43 respectively.
Lasell will race next at the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championships, which will be hosted by Rivier College in Nashua, New Hampshire. The Championships will take place on October 31st.
