LASERS CROSS COUNTRY TAKE 4TH AND 5TH AT GNAC CHAMPIONSHIP
The Lasell College mens and womens cross country team competed in the 2008 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships on Saturday, hosted by Saint Josephs College (Me.). The Lasers womens team took fifth place overall and the mens team finished in fourth overall. Saint Josephs (Me.) won the womens race for the second consecutive year and Johnson & Wales University earned the mens Championship title.
The Lasell College men's and women's cross country team competed in the 2008 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships on Saturday, hosted by Saint Joseph's College (Me.). The Lasers' women's team took fifth place overall and the men's team finished in fourth overall. Saint Joseph's (Me.) won the women's race for the second consecutive year and Johnson & Wales University earned the men's Championship title.
David Walsh (Springfield, MA) and Zachary Lambert (Marlborough, MA) were the top two runners on the men's team for Lasell, finishing just one second apart. Walsh ended the 8K race in 18th place, in 30:21, and Lambert came in 19th place, at 30:22.
Following close behind in 22nd and 23rd place were Kristopher McCabe (Kingston, NY) and Christopher Johnson (Gloucester, MA). McCabe and Johnsons respective times were 30:35 and 30:37.
Completing the Lasers scoring were Grant Vantine (Fitchburg, MA) and Mike Isherwood (Warwick, RI), at 33:23 and 37:58.
The top finisher for the women's team, Kayla McKenna (Warwick, RI), finished in 18th place as well, crossing the finish line at 22:49.
The second and third runners for Lasell were both first year runners, Meghan Missett (Lowell, MA) and Amanda Driscoll (Roslindale, MA). Missett ran a time of 23:00 exactly, while Driscoll finished forty seven seconds after that.
The final four athletes to score on the 5K race for Lasell were Ariella Harrington (Woburn, MA) in 37th place, Lauren Darrah (Beverly, MA) in 45th, Danielle Chiarella (Westborough, MA) in 53rd, and Stephanie Hauck (Westwood, MA) who completed in 62th place.
The Lasers now will have one week off before competing in the NCAA Regional, hosted by Williams College, on November 15th.
