MVB: Lasers Beat Saints 3-0 in GNAC Semifinals
Newton, MA- The Lasell University men's volleyball team hosted Emmanuel College on Thursday evening for the GNAC Semifinal matchup.
Lasell pulled away late to take Set 1, 25–16, after battling through a tight start. Early kills from Remy Cahalan and Jasper Schultz helped keep the score even, but Lasell found its rhythm midway through the set. A strong run fueled by key blocks from Paten Buckwalter and consistent attacking from Nathaniel Cobuzzi created separation. From the Saints. Lasell capitalized on Emmanuel errors to close out the set comfortably.
The Lasers carried its momentum into Set 2, earning a 25–20 win to take control of the match. After an even start, Lasell began to separate behind the strong connection between Schultz and Branch Barnes, who teamed up for multiple key kills. Teddy Teraszkiewicz and Cobuzzi also added offense during a mid-set run that pushed the lead into double digits. The Lasers stayed steady down the stretch, using consistent attacking to close out the set and take a 2–0 lead.
Lasell took full control in the third set, pulling away early and never looking back in a decisive 25–14 win over Emmanuel. The set opened evenly, but after trading points to a 5–4 lead, Lasell flipped the momentum behind a dominant service run from Barnes and strong offensive rhythm. Kills from Cobuzzi, Schultz, and Teraszkiewicz helped spark a 6-1 surge. Emmanuel struggled with consistency, committing multiple attack errors while Lasell capitalized in transition. Barnes took over from the service line, extending the lead to 17–7. The set closed emphatically with Barnes again at the service line, ripping three straight aces to seal the 25–14 victory.
