Newton, MA- The Lasell University men's volleyball team celebrated their seniors on Friday evening and delivered a 3-0 victory against Emerson College.
Lasell cruised to a commanding 3-0 sweep, rolling past its opponent 25-8, 25-13, and 25-13. The Lasers set the tone early with their sharpest offensive showing in the opening frame, hammering down 11 kills on 23 swings with only three errors for a .348 hitting percentage. While their efficiency dipped slightly over the next two sets (.227 in the second and .214 in the third), Lasell remained firmly in control behind consistent attacking and disciplined play.
For the match, the Lasers hit .271 with 26 kills on 59 attempts, fueled by Matthew Mitko's team-high nine kills and four service aces for 13.5 points. Trystan Maloney paced the offense with 17 assists and contributed across the board with two aces and three blocks. At the net, Lasell piled up 14 total blocks, with key efforts from Paten Buckwalter and Cole Esterline, while the back row chipped in 29 digs. Aggressive serving, balanced scoring, and strong defensive presence powered the Lasers from start to finish.
